The Blue Hawks competed in a triangular match on Friday (Feb. 6). They defeated Doane 45-9, before downing Morningside, 18-16.
Against Doane, Brice Gorsline recorded a fall at 3:27. He was followed by Cade Coles, who picked up a 7-4 decision. Travis Koenig then recorded a fall at 2:08. Seth Elkins extended the Blue Hawks' lead to 21-0 with a pin of his own, at 2:30. Sean Elkins made it three straight falls for Dickinson State, recording his at 2:15. Dickinson State would not be stopped, as Taylor Hodel scored with a fall. Jonathan Solano recorded a fall just 54 seconds in to secure the Blue Hawks lead. Meyer Bohn then picked up a fall at 1:56 for Dickinson State's final points. The Blue Hawks came away with a 45-9 win.
Seth Ehlang put the first points on the board for Dickinson State against Morningside with a 4-2 decision. Elkins followed him with a 7-1 decision. Hodel then won 6-3. Tyler Brown picked up a 7-2 victory to pull the score to 13-12 in favor of Morningside. Two bouts later, Solano notched a 4-3 decision to pull the Blue Hawks back within one, 15-16. Bohn closed the deal with a 7-2 victory, giving Dickinson State an 18-16 win.
The Blue Hawks will be back in action tomorrow (Feb. 7) at the Briar Cliff Open.
