DICKINSON, N.D. – The track and field program kicked off their season at the Dave Little Invitational at Black Hills State University. The men had four national qualifiers.
Senior Andrew Knebel met the B standard in the men's high jump. Senior Brady Sundheimalso hit the B standard in the men's triple jump.
Senior Breyan Miller met the A standard in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.89 seconds and was the fastest runner for Dickinson State on the men's 4X4 relay team.
Sophomore Dante Carter rounded out the men's team by meeting the A standard in the men's mile. Carter finished with a mile time of 4:18.
For the women, senior Haley Schaper finished third in the women's high jump and juniorStormie Sickler finished sixth overall in the 800 meter dash.
"I was very pleased with our efforts today," Head Coach Mike Nekuda said. "It was our first meet out and we are knocking the rust off. Everyone competed hard. We have four or five meets left and we got four national qualifiers today, there are definitely good things down the road for us."
The Blue Hawks next meet is scheduled for February 1, when they compete in the Cobber Duals.
