SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Blue Hawks put up an impressive performance at the Sioux City Relay on Friday (Apr. 11) and Saturday (Apr. 12). Dickinson State set two school records and two Sioux City Relay records.
Dante Carter was named Male MVP of the meet. He finished second in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:51.70. The mark set a Dickinson State record. Carter finished first in the 1500-meter with a time of 3:51.29, both a school and SC Relay record. He was also part of the sprint medley team that finished first and set a SC Relay record. The previous medley record stood for 50 years before the Blue Hawks were able to break it this weekend. Carter hit the A standard in both the 800-meter and the 1500-meter.
Breyan Miller finished first in the 100-meter dash (10.45) and the 200-meter dash (21.04). His time of 21.04 in the 200-meter set a SC Relay record. Miller was also part of the record setting sprint medley relay team. He helped the Blue Hawks finish second in the 4x100. Miller met the A standard in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
Nathan Magstadt finised second in the 400-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurldes. He was also part of both the sprint medley team and 4x100 team. He met the A standard in the 400-meter hurdles and the B standard in the 110-meter hurdles.
The men's 4x200 and 4x800 teams finished third. The 4x100 team finished second and met the A standard.
Brady Sundheim finished second in the men's triple jump, earning him a qualifier by passing the B standard.
On the women's side, Brittany Young hit the B standard in the 800-meter dash, and finished fourth, with a time of 2:15.80.
Hailey Schaper finished sixth in the high jump.
The Blue Hawks will be back in action on Thursday (Apr. 17) when they participate in the Blue Hawk Games at the Biesiot Activity Center.
