MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference announced its first edition of the Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week honors Tuesday. Whitney Leuenberger of Dickinson State (N.D.) was named to Field Athlete-of-the-Week. There were no nominees for NSAA Women's Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Whitney Leuenberger – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Sophomore – Sidney, Mont. – Leuenberger produced a national qualifying mark in Dickinson State's (N.D.) season opener at Black Hills State Yellow Jacket Spring Open. She threw a national qualifying throw of 43 feet, 8.5 inches (13.32 meters) to claim the women's shot put title. Leuneberg added a second-place finish in the women's discus throw with a measurement of 131 feet (39.94 meters) for the Blue Hawks.
North Star Athletic Association Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Dakota State (S.D.) is slated to compete in the two-day Red Raider Invitational on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Northwestern (Iowa) in Orange City, Iowa.
Dickinson State (N.D.), Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) is scheduled to participate in the two-day meet in Aberdeen, S.D. Friday and Saturday. They will be competing in the Northern State Open.
