SPEARFISH, SD- The Dickinson State University Women's Indoor Track & Field team opened their 2016 season at the Myrle Hanson Invite on Friday with Whitney Leuenberger qualifying for Nationals.
"Overall it was a very productive and successful day for us," said Head Coach Chris Creal. "We came in with the attitude to compete and do their best and I was satisfied with the results. It is still early season for us but we are on the right track for progression in our performances."
Whitney Leuenberger threw a NAIA national qualifying standard mark in the Shot Put with 13.12 meters, an all time indoor personal best. Abby Honeyman won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.52, an all time personal best while Amanda Wolff had a personal best in the 3000m race with a time of 11:47.54.
Shelbi McGee finished 4th in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 8.29 and 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 27.76 while Honeyman finished 2nd with a time of 27.49.
Allison Hert finished 8th in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 31.03 and 3rd in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:11.37.
In the 800 Meter Run, Shayna Tonderum finished 7th with a time of 2:37.99 while in the Mile Run, Cristina Herrera finished 7th with a time of 5:53.33 and Austyn Copp finished 9th with a time of 5:55.72.
Wolff finished 3rd in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 11:47.54 while Paola Silvestre finished 7th with a time of 12:07.70, Brittney Grove finished 8th with a time of 12:11.43 and Margaret Martinez finished 9th with a time of 12:44.03.
Allison Steffan finished 2nd in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.49 meters while Dailey finished 4th in the Triple Jump with a distance of 9.77 meters and Hoffart finished 5th with a jump of 9.25 meters.
Leuenberger finished 3rd in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.12 meters while Macy Vail had a distance of 10.36 meters.
Leuenberger also finished 10th in the Weight Throw with a distance of 12.12 meters.
