Dickinson, ND – The Dickinson State University Blue Hawks played host to the Carroll College Saints on Saturday, November 2, in a Frontier Conference match. The Saints swept the Blue Hawks 3-0, with set scores of: 25-15, 25-18, and 25-17. Dickinson State falls to 4-23 on the season, with a 0-13 conference record. Carroll is now 15-17.
Carroll was led by Rebecca Sweeney who tallied a team high 11 kills. Elli Graff had eight kills, good for second on the Saints. Libero Natalie Kassa had a team high 14 digs. Jonni Dorr picked up 14 assists, while Emily Burk chipped in 11. Overall the Saints had 40 kills, 34 assists, 48 digs, and nine blocks.
Dickinson State senior Melissa Avila led the squad with 13 kills. Freshman Kate Golding finished second on the team with six kills. Senior Kelly O'Connor had 20 assists and led with 17 digs. Both junior libero Natasha Malana and senior Melissa Avila had 10 digs. Golding also added three block assists. The Blue Hawks finished with 28 kills, 25 assists, 53 digs, and three total blocks.
Dickinson State will be back at home on Tuesday, November 5. The Blue Hawks will take on South Dakota School of Mines and Tech., that match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
