Blue Hawks Fall in Four to Johnson and Wales (CO) and Montana-Western

DENVER, Colo. -- The Blue Hawks played a pair of matches on Saturday (Oct. 11).  Dickinson State fell by a score to 3-1 in both matches.  In the first game Johnson and Wales (CO) took the match with set scores of 13-25, 19-25, 25-23, 19-25.  Montana-Western won 3-1 with set scores of 20-25, 14-25, 25-21, 16-25.  The Blue Hawks are now 1-20 on the season.

Demi Coca led John and Wales with 14 kills.  Kelley McLain was right behind her with 12.  Karli Rich dished out 25 assists and Alaina McClure handed out 21.  Roni Gibbs finished with 17 digs, while Braeden Gilbert picked up 16.  Johnson and Wales finished with 52 kills, 48 assists, 21 errors, 60 digs, and five blocks.

Miranda Kadrmas led the Blue Hawks' offense for the second straight match with 10 kills.  Brenna Hansen recorded nine, while both Tessa Sian and Shelby Gustafson notched eight.  Tori Baumiller recorded 18 assists, while Morgan Lutz notched 16.  Natasha Malana led the defense with 12 digs.  The Blue Hawks finished the first match with 41 kills, 39 assists, 46 digs, and six blocks.

Joanna Avery led Western with 13 kills.  Tessa Miller recorded 12.  Madison Marsch dished out 45 assists.  Kendra Mendicino had 34 digs.

In the second match, Kadrmas, Hansen, and Gustafson each notched 10 kills. Baumiller picked up 25 assists. Malana dug out 26 balls, Justine Braunagel picked up 10.  Jenifer Huebner recorded 12 digs.  Kate Golding had three solo blocks. Dickinson State finished with 38 kills, 34 assists, 81 digs, and seven blocks.

The Blue Hawks will be back in action on Oct. 21 at Minot State.
