Blue Hawks Fall to Montana-Western in Five Sets

DENVER, CO- The Dickinson State University Volleyball team fell in five sets to the University of Montana-Western in their opening match of the Johnson & Wales tournament on Friday night.

Montana-Western won the first set 25-8 but the Blue Hawks came back to win the second set 25-22. UM-W won the third set 25-21 while the Blue Hawks fought back to win the fourth set 31-29 to force a fifth set. THe Blue Hawks seen a 14-11 lead slip away in the fifth set and lost 17-15 to drop the match to UM-W.

Sydeny Bentz led the offense for the Blue Hawks with 18 kills while Brenna Hansen recorded 12 kills and five digs. Shelby Gustafson finished the match with 10 kills while Magdalyn Rauser added nine kills with three digs.

Danielle Boyette recorded 50 assists in the loss and Maggie Green had a team high 19 digs for the Blue Hawks.

The Blue Hawks finished with 60 kills on 181 attempts, 56 assists, 72 digs and nine total team blocks.

Dickinson State will play Johnson & Wales and St. Louis School of Pharmacy on Saturday to finnish out the Johnson & Wales tournament.
