DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Volleyball team is pleased to announce the signing of Keera Stookey from Huntley, MT.
Stookey has been the starting setter for the Huntley Project Red Devils for the past four years. During her time as a Red Devil, Keera helped assist her team to back-to-back State Championships in 2012 & 2013, and State Runner Up in 2013 & 2014. Stookey is a four-time 1st Team All-Conference player, and a four-time 1st Team All-State recipient. Overall, Keera ended her high school career as being the programs all-time leading setter with 4,917 assists. Additionally, she finished 3rd with 1,593 digs, and a win/loss record of 127-15.
Academically, Stookey has managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA all through high school, and is currently on track to becoming Valedictorian of her class. Keera is a four-time Academic All-State award winner in volleyball and softball.
"Keera comes from one of the top volleyball programs in Montana. Coincidentally, this program just happens to be coached by her mom, and nine-time Coach of the Year recipient, Iona Stookey. Coach Stookey does a great job at molding athletes into competitors. They are self-disciplined and hard working on the court and in the classroom. Keera will not be the only former Red Devil on the team next season, she will join senior, middle blocker, Tessa Sian,” stated head coach Jennifer Hartman. “Keera is extremely coachable. She is used to running a fast offense, and is able to make plays during pressure situations. Her poise and consistency will make her a great addition to our team.”
When asked how she felt about becoming a Blue Hawk Keera stated, “I am more than excited to get the opportunity to play with an amazing group of ladies and for Coach Hartman. I am so happy to be able to continue my volleyball career at the next level as a member of the Blue Hawk Program.”
Keera plans to work towards a degree in Biology. She is the daughter of Iona and Mike Stookey.
