Shyanne Gilcrist Inks with Dickinson State Volleyball

DICKINSON, ND- Head Volleyball Coach Jennifer Hartman is pleased to announce the signing of Shyanne Gilcrist from Billings, MT.

Shyanne Gilcrist 5’10” Outside Hitter, Billings Senior High School

Shyanne Gilcrist has been a part of Coach Carroll’s prestigious program for the past 3 years.  Shyanne’s time as a Bronc was well spent. In these 3 years, she has helped the varsity team to a 98-6 win/loss record, and two back-to-back Class AA State Volleyball Championship titles in 2013 & 2014.  Gilcrist’s senior season, the Broncs competed at the state tournament and ended up placing 3rd.   Shyanne finished her senior year ranked 2nd in Class AA (the highest class in Montana) in attack kills and digs.

“Shyanne comes from one of the best high school programs in the state of Montana.  It is truly remarkable what Coach Carroll has done with the Billings Senior Broncs.  These athletes come out of high school fundamentally sound and college ready.  Gilcrist is no exception.  She might only be 5’10”, but she plays like she is 6 feet tall.  Her sound fundamentals and knowledge of the game is what makes her a great addition to our program.  We feel very blessed and fortunate she decided to become a Blue Hawk,” Head Coach Jennifer Hartman explained.

When Shyanne was asked why she chose Dickinson State she stated, “Dickinson State is affordable and provides a great education for my field of study.  I really love volleyball, and I feel grateful that Coach Hartman has given me the opportunity to continue doing what I love!  I liked the volleyball team and its overall ‘family’ atmosphere with every other sports program.  It feels good to be a Blue Hawk.”

Shyanne plans to work towards a degree in Nursing.  She is the daughter of Charles and Linda Gilcrist.
