DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University Head Cross Country Coach, Ben Shroyer, is pleased to announce the signing of Bailey Smith to the 2017 Blue Hawk Women's CC team.
"I chose DSU because everyone was so nice and genuine," stated Smith. "I really liked the education program at DSU and I am looking forward to running and competing as a Blue Hawk."
Bailey Smith will graduate from Glacier High School in the spring of 2017. She was a 4x MHSA State Cross Country Meet Qualifier, 4x MHSA State Track Meet Qualifier, 4x Academic All-State Honors and a member of the National Honor Society.
Smith's highest finish at the MHSA State Cross Country Meet was in 2014, finished 18th in 19:02, Finished in 7th place at the 2015 MHSA State Track meet in the 800 in 2:20, Finished in 7th place at the 2014 MHSA State Track meet in the 1600 in 5:17, Member of the 3rd place 4x400 relay team at 2015 MHSA State Track Meet in 4:00.62.
Bailey is also a member of Glacier HS Swim Team and earned All-State Honors at the 2016 MHSA State Swimming Championships.
Her personal records: 3 mile (XC)- 18:24, 400- 61.17, 800- 2:20, 1600- 5:17, 3200- 11:54.
Bailey is the daughter of Shannon & Lauren Smith and she plans to major in Education at Dickinson State University.
"It's very exciting to sign our first female distance recruit for 2017 and one from western Montana," said Shroyer. "When Bailey verbally committed in early October, I was thrilled she decided to join our program! Bailey has had a successful high school career at Glacier HS and comes from a great program. Bailey is an excellent student-athlete who will make an immediate impact on both our cross country and track programs next year! She has some great goals for her collegiate running career and I am excited to work with her to accomplish them."
